Well, lesson learned. I am using the "family" bassinet for the second time, and I guess bassinets have steadily gotten smaller over the past 60 years or so, rendering mine a very large "dinosaur". It is rectangular, about three feet long and two feet wide. These bassinet sheets are comparatively tiny, as well as oval shaped. They are clearly made for some other sort of bassinet entirely.I was curious so I googled whether bassinets have gotten smaller over time. The search didn't turn up anything exactly on point, but it did turn up many images of space-age-looking tiny, tiny bassinets on tripods and the like. It didn't turn up any image that looks at all like my heirloom bassinet. I guess everybody is using the tiny, tiny tripod things these days (but why? aren't the babies growing out of them fairly immediately? how many times do they get kicked over, particularly at night?), and these tiny, tiny bassinet sheets make perfect sense in that context.I'll add two things:Please don't use these bassinet sheets if they make your bassinet mattress bunch up. That is not at all safe for the baby.These tiny, tiny bassinet sheets are made of soft fabric and they do seem to be nice. They just don't fit my bassinet.
These fit perfectly on a “Fisher Price Portable Vibrating Stow 'n Go Baby Bassinet” mattress, which I believe it’s a very standard bassinet size (15”x30”) and it also fits a 16”x30”. I think both are very common sizes.The fabric is good quality cotton and it’s very soft. It washes well
I got these hoping the knit jersey fabric would be stretchy enough to fit our larger Mika Micky bassinet mattress and they *just* barely fit. The cotton jersey sheets are soft and seem well made, so I will definitely be keeping them as extras or backup sheets. I don't have any complaints with the sheets themselves, I just wish they were a tiny bit bigger. Also, I think they are round because it seems like there is a little extra fabric on the long sides of the mattress despite barely stretching to fit the length. I would definitely recommend these sheets for bassinet mattresses smaller than 32" x 19" but not for the Mika Micky.
